Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe. Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life - for example, you may feel worried and anxious about sitting an exam, or having a medical test or job interview. During times like these, feeling anxious can be perfectly normal.

However, some people find it hard to control their worries. Their feelings or anxiety are more constant and can often affect their daily lives. This is what I experience.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder is a long-time condition that causes you to feel anxious about a wide range of situations and issues, rather than one specific event. In my case, this is known as Severe Anxiety Disorder and for this I am under a Psychiatrist from my local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team.

People with Anxiety Disorders feel anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed. As soon as one anxious thought is resolved, another may appear about a different issue.

Anxiety Disorders can cause both Psychological (mental) and physical symptoms. With mine, I experience:

  • Feeling restless and worried
  • Having trouble concentrating and sleeping
  • Dizziness and Heart Palpitations
  • Panic Attacks
  • Audible and Visual Hallucinations
I have always struggled with school since a young age with my symptoms and I also experience Audible and Visual Hallucinations so I sometimes see things that aren't there or hear things that aren't real.
